Mr. Georges lectured from a set of 3 x 5 inch cards that contained the main ideas he presented to us. Here's
a card defining the "significance" of literature...
(For those of us with aging eyesight, the card contains the following:)
"Significance:
-importance to contemporary and future generations
-what changes did it bring about in its own time
-what changes did it cause for posterity
-what information does it give us about its own time or its author."
